Tea By The Moon is the digital embodiment of the creative mind of Theresa Marie
Hey! I'm Theresa Marie, but you can just call me T. I'm a twenty-three year old self-taught artist, photographer, nanny, Sociology student & crazy cat mom based in Toronto, ON.
I've been dreaming of running a blog since I was 13, hoarded away in the darkness of my bedroom, hunched over a keyboard and teaching myself CSS and HTML language via internet research and (a LOT of) trial and error. Fast forward 10 years later, I'm 23 and still don't "run" a blog. Talk about slow & steady wins the race!
Aside from distributing Xanga layouts and running a semi-successful e-mag between the ages of 13-15, I've failed at sticking to pretty much every single other endeavor I've ever attempted. But, I can safely say that every single mistake I've made over the past 10 years has taught me exactly what I'm not meant to be. And for some people it takes an awful lot longer than 10 years to come to that conclusion.
A 'lifestyle' blogger? LOL. A 'beauty' blogger? BIGGER LOL. Any kind of 'blogger' at all? Well... I'm still trying out a few potential concepts. For anyone who has never tried to start a blog or something similar, it is way, WAY more complicated than simply picking a pretty theme and having lots of pretty pictures. I mean, yes of course those things help to draw attention, but when you have some viewers drawn to your visual style and you don't have any quality content to hook them once they're present... and more importantly, make them want to come back... you have successfully created an unsuccessful blog. And no amount of well-curated Instagram pictures of sparkly congratulations banners and other cute elements can make up for that lost traffic.
Finding my niche has been my biggest challenge. I think I finally have the aesthetic thing nailed, after over a year of changing my mind and blog theme. And even if I decide I'm not actually satisfied... I need to work on creating content that actually matters! I finally came to the same conclusion that I came to when I was drifting around through various retail jobs and wondering why I never felt fulfilled. My problem was that I wanted so badly to be into fashion and makeup, and other feminine stereotypes, that I ignored the gut feeling that I didn't actually have a clue what I was doing down those avenues. My true passion lies in creative pursuits: art, photography, and anything to do with creating something via the use of my mind and my own two hands.
Thus, Tea By The Moon was born! And reborn. And reborn again... and again. And again.
Now, Tea By The Moon has decidedly been identified as the embodiment of every creative idea that runs through my head. Whether that's a craft project, a photoshoot, a nail tutorial, or something entirely (creatively) different, it will all find its way eventually into a blog post here at TBTM.
These two brothers have been part of the family since they were born in the Summer of 2012. Though they're constantly referred to as babies, they're actually full grown adults. They love testing out new treats and toys, and are pretty spoiled if I do say so myself. Being the only reliable constant (besides catastrophe) in my life over the last few years, they're a huge part of the creative process here at TBTM, and sometimes even make executive decisions. Their chapter in the autobiography of my life will be titled "Oh. You seem to have walked across the keyboard and pressed delete on a post I had not yet saved a draft of." It will be riveting.
